Mumbai, previously known as Bombay, is a bustling metropolis on the west coast of India. Its history spans centuries, dating back to the 7th century when it was a collection of seven islands. In 1661, the British East India Company gained control of the islands, which eventually led to the city's rise as a major port and financial hub.
